The Scarleteers and Tanagers was a student-run singing group that began sometime in the early 20th century, and seems to have survived into the 1980s before finally ending. During the early 1970s the group added rock n' roll to its repertoire of folk music and barbershop. The men (Scarleteers) and women (Tanagers) performed separately and together for parties, graduation, alumni gatherings and charitable events. Tanagers in the years 1970-74 included: Ann-Janine Morey, Gwen Moore, Barbara Mills, Elizabeth Aubrey, Melissa Musick, Nancy Mills, Mary Jo McElveen, Ruth Hayes.

Scarleteers from the left: Mike Darraugh, Pete Ferrell, Jerry Collins, Al Rosenfield, Elliott Lewis. Not pictured from other years: Mark Hurd (1972) and Greg Gaines (1972).
