Judicial Council
From GrinnellWiki
The Grinnell College Judicial Council, or JudCo, is a fact-finding and student arbitration body made up of several students and one faculty advisor. When conflicts or violations of individual or community self-governance occur and such conflicts cannot be resolved by immediate community members (such as friends, Student Advisors, or RLCs), JudCo provides access to an outside arbitration of students by students before needing to involve Student Affairs or the Police.

How to Use JudCo
To use JudCo, obtain a Statement of Complaint form from the SGA Offices, Student Affairs, or your RLC. Upon filling it out, return it to either the SGA VP for Academic Affairs, the Student Affairs Dean, or your RLC.
Membership of JudCo
At the beginning of each semester, approximately 9 student applicants are selected by the SGA VP for Academic Affairs and the JudCo faculty advisor. Of these nine, 4 are randomly selected to hear each JudCo case.
How JudCo Works
At each hearing, the participating JudCo members hear claims made by students and college staff regarding the violation in question. Upon completion of the proceedings, JudCo members render a recommendation of punishment and submit it to the Vice President of Student Affairs.
