The old swimming pool was the original home to Grinnell's own synchronized swimming team/club, known by the name "White Caps", and coached by Jean King of the athletic department. White Caps moved over to the new sports complex when it opened up in the fall of 1971. Each year the White Caps put on a synchronized swimming show open to all, usually based on a unifying theme. In the winter of 1972-1973, the theme was mythology.
